How was your situation before joining Maverix Evolution?

Club team practices 2x a week and 2x tournaments a month. Some hitting and field work with dad on own 2-4x a month. Minimal strength and conditioning at home. Had to be encouraged to get swings in. Tried personal hitting coach but schedule was random and unorganized and TJ did not connect with him. Led his team in hitting for 3 years batting 1-5 in lineup, but then last year was lower middle of pack.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

Struggled with the feeling of being in a slump. Didn’t like not being one of the top guys on team and now batting middle-end of lineup. Confidence was lacking. Didn’t know how to fix it.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

TJ has done but doesn’t love group sessions. Went to Sandlot because lots of team members attended. From the one session he liked the idea of mental preparedness and strength and conditioning routines that were unlike anything he’s ever done. Was surprised to hear him talk about specific things coaches said and did in the session. He hardly ever seems that engaged and willing to share what he learned. Found out about the 1:1 hitting lessons and wanted to try it instead of the current hitting coach we were intermittently using. Nervous about new relationship with coach Mike but the sandlot session allowed him to be introduced for some comfort level. He has connected well in a trusting relationship with Coach Mike where he is willing to try, fail, and sound stupid in his own analysis of questions driven by Mike. The trust factor is helping him to grow and have success.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

TJ is back on top of leading his team in hitting with .600+ average. His confidence is booming and is helping his game not only at the plate but translates to his pitching and fielding as well. The app drives him to put his work in knowing he has to get it done on days other than practices and lesson. The exercise routines are getting him interested in more strength training on his own. With the success he is currently having, he knows that putting in the hard work and effort is working and he is excited about doing it. He has said to me, “Everyone on our team should be doing Maverix. We would dominate!”

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

Give it a chance to see if the program works for you and if the results come with it. It has made a huge difference for us. The hard work and consistent effort pays off. The training methods are advanced and not what you typically see at a team practice or even with other individual lessons. The confidence gained in oneself at the plate translates to confidence in fielding as well. Overall, we are glad we have Maverix a try and there is no looking back. Just continued success going forward.

How was your situation before joining Maverix X Factor?

He had been cut from his team. Only explanation from coach was that he wasn’t aggressive enough and then later said that he was significantly behind the other players. The coach had needed to dumb down his catching style to what the pitchers were comfortable with. JJ had been frustrated with that team and coach from just a short time in and it really affected him at the plate and his trust in his abilities. He went from top dog on his previous team to a kid who was always unsure and seeking approval. Now that he had found another team we are working on getting that confidence back. It takes a ton of reminders before games that he is capable. We use the words and tools we’ve gained from X Factor quite a bit and even though it’s been a short time, I am seeing improvements.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

I was very frustrated with our previous situation because JJ has always shined on the field. He really seemed down and we were very concerned about him being so depressed about it.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

Instagram. I was worried about JJ being young, but I’m happy that when he asked if he could participate in Sandlot that you said yes. JJ is determined to keep getting better and this has been a great opportunity for him.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

JJ tries to use some of the techniques to be tough and likes the talks but he’s still learning quite a bit. JJ is now playing with coach Neal on the FTK 12u Gold team. They are doing really well and practicing tons.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

I would tell them that if their kid really wants to go far, that physical ability can only help to a certain point. If a kid isn’t practicing and learning mental toughness they won’t have the tools to succeed. I think it really helps them learn how to deal with failure and to learn that this game is all about failing and trying again. I worry about those kids that develop faster and are better than others this young without working for it because as the other kids catch up in development they will be left behind. I think having the work ethic early on is better than waiting until they are older. I also see so many student athletes giving up on life because it isn’t the same once they leave home and I think X Factor is something that can help them prepare for the future.

How was your situation before joining Maverix X Factor?

Before X-Factor, we experienced a mix of decent coaching and really poor coaching.  Most of Austin's training was led by me and he practiced 3-5x per week.  I tried to make it fun where I could, but it was mostly reps, corrections and positive reinforcement.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

I definitely felt that Austin would be a better player with the right mix of training and coaching.  Austin has a true desire to play...and play well.  Austin was getting discouraged on always hearing his swing is wrong.  He has been in the top 3 BA on his club and Majors LL team... but it's wrong because it didn't look like the coach said it should look.  I would like to see positive coaching.  There is a proper way to fix mistakes without discouraging kids... most coaches lack this skill.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

We found Maverix through Coach Hunter. Austin's biggest fear was how well he would compete with much older players... Austin started Sandlot when he wasn't quite 12 yet... some 14 year old kids are nearly grown men, lol. We figured he would not be the only 12yo there, he is big for his age, and he plays well enough to be asked to fill in on older teams. We also felt the Coaches knew how to maintain the atmosphere accordingly... we were not disappointed at all!

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

Austin improves every month... both physically and mentally. Austin has always been headstrong and stays positive throughout his baseball journey from practice to gametime. Post Maverix, however, his mental game is on another level and continues to improve. He has so much fun, I'm not sure he even realizes he is in a learning environment. He talks about Sandlot and Maverix to all his baseball friends and constantly asks me to sign him up for more sessions. The atmosphere is awesome. Austin can be himself... its all positive vibes whether he makes a mistake or hits a bomb.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

There is nothing to lose and everything to gain. There is no commitment... just try one session. It's not expensive and the athlete will 100% come away from it with something worthwhile specific to them. If it was enjoyable, keep coming. If it's not for you, pause and try again in 6 months.

How was your situation before joining Maverix Evolution?

My situation before joining Maverix was my weakness of the mental side and since joining Maverix it’s been a lot better. Also, with my swing the coaches go more in depth and every key detail. It’s been very important and it’s really helped my swing and bat path.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

It’s made me feel more confident at the plate, being able to fill myself with positive thoughts. Also, the calls on Monday nights which really go into talking abut the mental side have really helped me.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

I found Maverix by my club coach. He introduced me into the Sandlots. My doubts and fears were taking the next step to something that could be a level above and I was willing to take that risk. So I said yes because it was going to make me a better ball player.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

I’m at the point now where I am more comfortable than ever. I know how to control the game at my pace and slow things down. This makes me feel more confident, so at the plate my mindset is a lot better. Something big I can do now compared to before is two things; one my mental side, before I couldn’t get over that you are going to make mistakes and that you’re going to strike out, but now I know I’ll get em next time. Two, I’m able to recognize the pitch better and able to put it to left, center, or right. I am able to drive it to the outfield more consistently too.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

I would say taking a risk and stepping outside of your comfort zone will only make you better. You will be able to unlock more opportunities and see what you are really capable of.

How was your situation before joining Maverix X Factor?

Declan has always been a top performer who puts in the work. But with being at the top it’s hard to stay focused and challenged. Teammates have jealousy. Coaches have daddy ball bias. He has to learn to train himself to focus.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

He was definitely not pushing further ahead in his skills without 1x1 and Maverix focused training.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

Referral from a friend to Hunter.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

Declan is beyond focused in his approach at the plate. Patient and less frustrated.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

Do it. This “baseball” education is so much more value to help young boys develop and grow into good humans.

How was your situation before joining Maverix Evolution?

My situation before Maverix Evolution was that I was working out with my dad and my team.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

I thought it made me feel pretty good about myself. I wish that I was able to get bigger and get stronger.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

A friend suggested it to me. It didn’t make me have fear or doubt.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

I think I am in a better spot and made me stronger. It makes me feel like I am able to keep up with my teammates.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

Maverix is an amazing program and the coaches that are there get to understand you really well while being next to your side.

How was your situation before joining Maverix X Factor?

Outside of little league, we've played for the Rawlings Tigers. This is our 2nd season.  Harrison went to Rijo for approx 9-10 months. He's done some camps with Chad Mueller. I had him do some private lessons with Steve Leppert (Reds Org in the 80's). Steve was the first person who started to work on Harrison's mindset, but it didn't really set in, probably due to age. Recently I had him take a few lessons with Stephen Randolph who works with Chad Meuller. And now we are with Hunter and Maverix.  I'm really starting to see the positive impact this training is doing to Harrison's confidence and how he approaches the game, and in game situations as they come up.  Harrison loves the Monday night calls and working with Hunter every Wednesday. I wish I had this type of training back when I played.  I MAY have made it out of JuCo!

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

I think Harrison is starting to see the progress, and that consistency pays off. You aren't going to do anything well overnight. When we were at Rijo he would get frustrated because is was just rep after rep without much correction, or drills to help improve mechanics. I still feel like some of those bad habits are there, but we are making progress every day!

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

Stacey O'Keeffe introduced me to Hunter. From there I did my usual internet research. Hunter is the one who turned me on to the X Factor Community. As I've aged, and become more self aware, I've realized all this training would have benefited me in my life. Harrison is a spitting image of me, so I'm always interested in improving his confidence/mindset.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

Harrison's self talk has improved. He still gets emotional, but it's improving. His confidence is improving to the point where he's trying to help his teammates, but sharing what he's leaning with Maverix/Hunter at our games and practices.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

I would tell them to go for it. I recommended your program to our entire team, and I think two kids have now signed up.

Club Baseball team with no internal motivation/direction, more going through the motion/drills but not seeing improvement.

How did that make you feel? What were you unable to do or wasn’t being accomplished that you wished you could?

Disappointed, felt like nothing was changing despite practicing. He hit a plateau.

How did you find Maverix? What were your doubts and fears about this? What made you say yes anyway?

Heard about Hunter from a teammate. Something needed to change, why not try and see what happens.

Where are you at now? How does that make you feel? What are you able to do now that you couldn’t before?

Mental game has increased, ability to cope with situations and move on to the next play. Great mental clarity and composure.

What would you tell someone who is seeing this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

Only good can come from checking out the program and joining the Maverix community.
